A MAN who cheated the taxpayer out of more than £14,000 will have to pay back every penny, a judge told him.

Nisar Ahmed, 35, rented a £220,000 house he had bought in Toller Drive, Heaton, Bradford, out to his sister while claiming benefits, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Ahmed, who was living in a property in Durham Road, Girlington, Bradford, dishonestly claimed £14,111 in Income Support and Jobseekers Allowance.

He pleaded guilty to four offences of benefit fraud, between September, 2008, and April last year.

The court was told Ahmed bought the house in 2007 and his benefit claims were fraudulent from the outset.

He used rent paid by his sister to make the mortgage payments.

Judge Jonathan Rose sentenced Ahmed to a community order with 180 hours of unpaid work.

The judge timetabled a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act, telling him: "You are going to pay back every penny of this £14,000."
