A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been cleared of raping a church-going student after telling a court she was "all over him" that night.

It took a jury at Bradford Crown Court less than two hours to acquit Aadil Mahboob of sexually attacking the 17-year-old girl after parking his car in a dark Bradford side street.

The teenager, who had downed vodka, accused him of locking her in the vehicle, removing her clothes and forcing himself on her in the front passenger seat, in the early hours of July 15 last year.

But Mahboob, who was held in custody before his trial, told the jury she was determined to have sex with him.

He was today unanimously found not guilty of two charges of rape and one of sexual assault and discharged from the dock by Judge Robert Bartfield.

Well-wishers in the public gallery clapped after the verdicts and Mahboob smiled with relief.

Giving evidence in his defence, Mahboob, of Edderthorpe Street, Barkerend, Bradford, told the jury he took the girl to an all-night store to buy cigarettes.

As they travelled along Upper Rushton Road, she made advances and performed a sex act on him while he was driving.

"I thought it was a joke but she was adamant that she wanted me," he said.

He pulled up on a quiet street off Gain Lane in Thornbury.

By then, the student was removing her shoes and clothes.

Mahboob said they had consensual sex in the back of the car before dressing and resuming their trip to the shop.

He told the court he had been to prison for drug and driving offences but had no sexual offences on his record.

He had not met the girl before and found her loud when socialising with her and others at a flat in Bradford that night.

She was "jumping about" and he did not find her relaxing company.

Mahboob said he was about to leave the flat when his male friend asked him to get some cigarettes.

When he returned with the girl, he gave her and her friend £40 for a taxi fare home.

Mahboob said he had a long-term partner but also regularly had sex with a lot of girls at that time.

He had never forced himself on any of them and would never commit rape.
