TWO young children have helped a Bradford charity raise nearly £5,000 for its work with homeless people.
Despite being aged only six and eight, Zakariya and Mariya Faisal, walked 20 miles along the towpath of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in support of Intouch Foundation, which runs a food bank and soup kitchens in Bradford, Keighley and Leeds.
Charity founder Osman Gondal said the siblings, who joined 35 others for Sunday's 'Poverty has no Borders' walk, raised about £400.
"It was a long day, but they all seemed to enjoy it," he said.
"I thought it was wonderful. We had different stop-off points along the way, just in case people couldn't make it, but these two just carried on and they were a joy to be with.
"Every single volunteer just enjoyed talking to them and we were inspired by the energy they had. And not just that, they both really understood why we were doing it.
"I was really impressed and just overjoyed really when they got to the end. we brought a congratulations cake and that went down a treat for them."
