Mark Jackson visits Fearnville Primary School

VISIT: Mark Jackson with pupils at Fearnville Primary School

First published in News

BRADFORD primary school pupils have benefited from some professional soccer coaching as part of a sport and health festival.

Fearnville Primary School staff persuaded Farsley AFC's assistant manager Mark Jackson to visit for a session working with year four boys.

He helped with football drills and spoke to pupils at the school off Sticker Lane about his football career, which has included playing more than 200 professional matches - some in the same teams as Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher.

His advice included an explanation that football managers seek out good listeners and those willing to take advice on board, rather than just those with natural playing ability.

During his career, Mark played with Leeds United and Scunthorpe as well as Farsley.

The sport and health festival also featured other events aimed at grabbing pupils' attention, including visits from cyclists, drama groups, dancers, cricket coaches and an Olympic torch.
