The person behind a failed bid to build a new wind turbine in Thornton has lodged an appeal with the secretary of state.
Andrew Illingworth claims that building a 25 metre turbine on Back Heights Road would benefit the Thornton community, as well as generating green energy.
Bradford Council refused the application in May, claiming it would have a "significant impact" on the greenbelt land around it. The appeal was lodged earlier this week and a government planning inspector will now decide if the council made the right decision.
The appeal document says a turbine at the site will prevent the release of 108 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year and generate an average of 205,000kWh of electricity per annum, enough to power 62 houses.
It adds: "The proposed turbine will generate significant economic and environmental benefits for the landowner, his business and the wider community as a whole."
