Police are appealing for help to trace a 38-year-old man who has been missing from his home for two weeks.

John Bootland, known to some as Paul Bootland, had been resident at the Devonshire Arms at Cracoe, near Skipton.

He was last seen at about 6pm on Friday, January 5, when he took a taxi to Skipton.

Skipton police said he was last heard of on Tuesday, January 16, when he called a friend to say he was coming back but never arrived.

Acting Detective Inspector Matt Walker said Mr Bootland had worked in a number of pubs in the area, but most recently as a chef at several pubs in Leeds.

"I am also considering the likelihood that he is staying with a friend who may be unaware he has been reported missing from home. Alternatively, he may be staying in a local guest house," he said.

Mr Bootland is described as white, six-feet tall, with short dark hair, blue eyes, and speaks with a Yorkshire accent.

He was last seen wearing a blue and white checked shirt, a dark striped jumper, light blue jeans and a waist-length beige coloured jacket.
