The Bulls have received another boost on the injury front with news Chris McKenna could be fit for the start of Super League XII.

Although the Aussie second-rower still has his wrist in pot following major surgery, he hopes to be in contention for the opening game against Huddersfield.

"It's more likely going to be the second but hopefully it'll be the first," he said.

"The doc has told me to wait and see but you never know.

"It depends how long it takes me to get the range of movement back in my wrist when I have the pot off.

"It's going to be as stiff as a board for a while but fitness-wise I'm in pretty good nick."

Bulls boss Steve McNamara has seen many of his big stars recovering from surgery during the off-season with question marks hanging over a few for February 11.

However, he revealed yesterday that Iestyn Harris is cleared to play again and McKenna is close to following suit.

Ironically, McKenna believes the recent lay-off might see him fitter than ever in 2007.

"This week, while we were out in Lanzarote, is the first where I've started fully with the team," explained the former Rhinos man.

"Before, I'd been happy doing cardio in the gym. I had a few pelvic problems last season - nothing that ever saw me miss any game but they were holding me back a bit.

"I've worked really hard with the physio in the off-season though, getting these niggles right, and now am really starting to reap the benefits "I'm going really well and now just need to get the wrist flexible and strengthened again when the pot comes off next week."
