People without gardens can still join in the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch next weekend by visiting Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall.

To take part, all you need to do is watch the birds in your garden or local park for an hour on either Saturday, January 27, or Sunday, January 28 and record your findings.

Richard Aspinall, head ranger at Kirklees' only Green Flag site, said: "Oakwell is a great place for bird spotting. With 70 species recorded, there will always be a chance to tick some off the list. We've plenty of the regular visitors, from thrushes to blue tits and robins to green finches, but there's also a few of those more difficult to find on site - the sparrowhawk, kingfisher, greater spotted woodpecker have all been seen in recent months."
