A 19 year-old man lost control of a car and crashed while trying to flee from police in Calverley early today.
The incident happened in Woodhall Road shortly before 2am with police and firefighters from Idle and Stanningley attending the scene.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At about 1.55am a black Vauxhall Meriva failed to stop for a roads policing unit in Woodhall Road, Calverley.
"The vehicle lost control a short time later and crashed near Woodhall Hills Golf Club. The driver, a 19-year-old man, had to be freed from the vehicle by firefighters and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
"His injuries are not believed to be serious."
Police said the investigation into the incident was continuing. Anyone with any information about it has been urged to contact police on 101.
