A man had to be rescued by firefighters early today after getting his hand stuck in his letterbox.
Crews at Odsal station were called to the man’s house, off Smith Avenue, Wibsey, at 1.30am after being alerted by a neighbour.
A fire service spokesman said the man, in his late 20s, had gone outside to put out rubbish but the door had closed behind him, locking him out.
He reached through the letterbox to try to unlock the door but got his hand wedged. He attracted the attention of a neighbour who raised the alarm.
The spokesman said: “The man was sober. It was just unfortunate. His hand was swollen but his pride was injured the most.”
