The brakes on a fully-loaded car transporter got so hot they caught fire. A crew from Brighouse fire station were called out to Armytage Road, Brighouse, at 8pm on Wednesday. But the driver had put out the blaze himself using a dry powder extinguisher. Watch Commander Jimmy Johnstone said: “He had come down the M62, which is quite a hill, and his brakes had probably been heating up on the way down.”
