Children got a first sight of their new school library as it was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford.
The library at Horton Grange Primary School’s was opened by Councillor Khadim Hussain and will provide pupils with a new place to read, both in and out of school hours.
The school has raised £150,000 for the library over the past two years, and it contains more than 4,500 new books.
Previously the school’s books were spread out over a number of smaller libraries located in classrooms.
Headteacher Carol Stevenson said: “We feel it has been a really worthwhile investment for the children.
“Everyone is absolutely delighted with it. There is an ICT area for children to research, and there will be a reading club before and after school and for pupils to go to at lunch.
“The children were very excited, It is on a mezzanine floor that was closed off until yesterday, so the opening was the first time most of them had to see it.”
