A community funding group in Liversedge and Gomersal has almost £17,000 to give away to deserving projects between now and December.
The area’s community first panel has approved grants worth over £33,000 in the past three years, and is now asking for groups to come forward with suggestions on how the money should be spent. Groups can apply for up to £2,500 per project, and must have funding matching the amount they are applying for, although that could be in the form of volunteer time or donated materials.
The funding comes from the Government’s Communities Department, but is overseen and handed out locally. Deputy chairman of the group, John Appleyard, said: “We have funded playgrounds, gardening, a literary festival, and much more.”
