Police are re-appealing for witnesses to a terrifying knifepoint robbery at a travel agency.

Two women working in a Thomas Cook shop in Cleckheaton were threatened by a knife-wielding masked man in a daylight robbery on February 27.

A man wearing a balaclava mask entered the business on Bradford Road between 4.30pm and 5pm demanding cash and threatening the women with a knife. After he was given money he fled the scene.

Police say neither woman was hurt in the robbery, although both were left shaken.

The suspect is described as a white man, possibly aged in his 30s, around 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall, wearing an all black top and grey or white tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable John Wallace, of Dewsbury CID, is investigating the incident.

He said: “The two employees in the travel agent were not injured during the incident, but were understandably shaken.

“The suspect made away from the store on foot, carrying a red money bag which contained a substantial amount of cash.

“We have made a number of enquiries since this incident and I am now calling on the public for further assistance in tracing the individual responsible.

“I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information come forward immediately via the non emergency number 101 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
