The body of a man whose head was covered with a plastic bag and a cloth was found in a Bradford park today.

A canister of what is thought to be chloroform or bleach was next to the body. It is believed that the man had committed suicide.

Police said the body was found at about 12.20pm in Horton Park, close to Cecil Avenue. It is not yet known how old the man was.

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and added: “Officers were called to a report of a sudden death.”

Fire crews from Odsal station attended the scene as a precaution because of the substance involved.
