A suspected driver who fled the scene of a car crash leaving his two young children badly injured in the wreckage was last night still being hunted by police.
Officers believe Umbar Ali was driving a Vauxhall Zafira which was in a collision with an Alfa Romeo in Bradford on Saturday night.
The two children, aged two and four, were in the Zafira and were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police believe Ali, who is from the Bradford area, is the father of the two children.
The collision happened at about 9.30pm in Queen’s Road at the junction with Valley Road in Manningham.
Police say Ali, 39, fled the scene.
Officers also think Mr Ali was injured in the crash and that he might require hospital treatment.
Two people in the Alfa Romeo, aged 34 and 32, were freed from the vehicle by firefighters and taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries and a broken collar bone.
A fire service spokesman described the collision as a “fairly high-speed impact”.
Queen’s Road was closed for about three hours after the crash. Inspector Joanne Field, of the Western Area Roads Policing Unit, has urged anyone with information to contact the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
