One of Bradford’s largest Bupa-run care homes has closed.
But concerns that the closure of The Dales in Thornbury, came out of the blue have been dismissed by the healthcare provider.
The home, which specialised in dementia care, was on Woodhall Road.
A spokesman for Bupa said: “The home has not suddenly closed. On January 8 we told residents, their families and our staff that we had reluctantly decided to close The Dales care home in Bradford.
“Over the past three months, we have worked closely with colleagues in the local councils, and families, to ensure every resident was helped to find a new home that they were happy with.
“We have supported all of our staff, many of whom have transferred to other nearby Bupa homes.
“We had been increasingly concerned about the home’s ability in future to continue to meet the needs of people living with dementia.
“Most important was the suitability of the building to meet the increasingly complex demands of people who are living with dementia and have other nursing needs.
“We’d like to thank all our partners who helped us to complete the process with the minimum of disruption to residents over the past three months.”
