The two-wheeled efforts of an Otley school have earned it the ‘best in Leeds’ title in a national competition.
Children, staff and parents connected to Ashfield Primary were challenged to cycle to school every day for a fortnight as part of The Big Pedal. The event was organised by Sustrans to encourage people across the country to cycle.
Year 4 class teacher and PE co-ordinator Lucy Huddart said: “We are delighted to have achieved first place in Leeds, third place in Yorkshire, and 40th in the entire competition.”
Sustrans is a UK charity dedicated to enabling more people to travel on foot or by bicycle.
