Ambitious plans to transform a famous former mill store into an outdoor pursuits centre have been welcomed.
Councillors say the £1 million scheme would be a boon for the area.
Last week, the T&A reported proposals to convert the old Ponden Mill site near Stanbury, which has stood empty since the retail outlet shut in late 2008.
The three-storey centre would accommodate between 64 and 70 people, mainly in dormitories, and on the ground floor there would be a cafe open to the public.
Camping provision would also be included as part of the initiative, which is set to create up to 20 full and part-time jobs.
Coun John Huxley, chairman of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council, said: “I think it’s a very positive thing for the area, given the number of people who walk, ride and take part in water activities.”
