The “absolutely fantastic” volunteers who help deliver restorative justice across Bradford district were honoured tonight.
Dignitaries including the Lord Mayor of Bradford Coun Khadim Hussain, the police and crime commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson, and assistant chief constable of West Yorkshire Police, Craig Guildford, gathered at City Hall to pay tribute to the volunteers on Neighbourhood Resolution Panels.
They give up their time to bring together victims, the person who has harmed them, and the community, with an aim of providing a happy outcome.
ACC Guildford said: “I am humbled by what you do. You are giving up your own time to assist others - you make a big difference.”
Mr Burns-Williamson, who helped present certificates to the volunteers, said: “Thank you very much for all the hours you have contributed and for everything you have done.”
Inspector Alan Rhees-Cooper and PSCO Tracy Anne-Beasley told stories of neighbourhood disputes that had been settled by the NRP.
PCSO Anne-Beasley added: “You are absolutely fantastic.”
Kate Brooksbank, co-ordinator of NRP, said 90 per cent of people were satisfied with the service provided and that just three per cent of people seen by the service reoffended.
