Students from Hipperholme Grammar School have begun their acts of remembrance as the 100-year anniversary of the start of World War One approaches.
Pupils paid a visit to the Colne Valley British War Cemetery in Ypres, Belgium, where former school headmaster, Captain Maynard Percy Andrews, is buried.
Current headmaster Jack Williams travelled with 33 students and staff to the military cemetery where head girl Marianne Suddards laid a wreath on behalf of the Hipperholme students.
Following a reading of Captain John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields, the school choir sang Silent Night as part of the ceremony.
