The boss of a Bradford demolition firm has spoken of his anger after yobs caused thousands of pounds worth of damage during two wrecking sprees at his yard.

Neil Sagar, owner of City Demolition, visited the Manningham site on Sunday in preparation for returning to work at the start of the year to find it had been trashed, with tools stolen and graffiti scrawled over a forklift truck, which the vandals had tried to steal.

And yesterday, when he arranged to meet police at the Queens Road yard, he discovered that vandals had done more damage overnight by smashing the windows of transit vans and a track car.

Mr Sagar said he was still counting up the cost of the damage, which is expected to run into thousands of pounds, and he would not be able to run his business until a clean-up operation had been carried out.

“It was a complete shock and I can’t believe they’ve been back and done it again since.

“I came down on Sunday and found all the fire extinguishers had been taken out of the cabins and sprayed in the forklift truck, which they had tried to hotwire.

“They got into the tool cabin through a window and took things from inside there and made it a bit of a tip.

“They even hacked their way through a metal door, using some sort of implement, maybe an axe or something from the tool shed, where they stole stone-cutting saws.

“They also mindlessly smashed up a family car, which has been written off.

“They spray-painted BBK on the forklift truck, which I believe stands for Bradford Born Killers, as well as the postcode BD8.

“They must have been out there for a while, I don’t know why they would want to do this.

“It’s going to take a big clean-up.”

The business owner said he had been told a group of youths had been seen in the yard at around 5.30am last Thursday, although he did not discover the damage until Sunday.

Scenes-of-crime officers have now carried out a forensic examination of the site and police are appealing for information.

“They had been back and smashed the windows of transit vans and a track car,” Mr Sagar said.

“The damage will run into thousands of pounds and it is having an impact because I can’t work at the moment. It’s not a good situation to be in.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said it received a report of two break-ins at the yard at 10.39am yesterday and scenes-of-crime officers had been at the site.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

With hind sight he needed a security person or CCTV and alarm system, I suppose if he makes insurance claim they will make it a condition for the future.

If this is gang related as is indicated by the tagging involved the Police should be well aware of those most likely to be instrumental.

That is the whole point of neighbourhood Policing.

Just go knock on a few doors - someone will cough.

Obviously it is the parents of those involved who are really to blame but I doubt they will care for the feral offspring they have bred.

Well said.......the Police will not do anything about it and even if they did some idiotic judge would just give them a slap on the wrist. Best let all the demolition lads sort it out.....they will do a much better job!
