A ten-year-old maths whizz is celebrating after beating 16,000 children to win a national online competition.
Alisha Sharif got 1,000 out 1,000 correct – and in the quickest time – to triumph in the Sumdog mathematics contest which was open to children aged up to 16.
Bob Curran, who is Alisha’s head teacher at St Matthew’s Primary School in Mayo Avenue, Bradford, said: “We knew she was a very good mathematician and we are really thrilled she has won this competition. She is really pleased.”
Fifty pupils at St Matthew’s took part, with the school finishing third overall.
