Bradford Bulls is urging fans to donate old clothing and bedding to support a range of charities helping needy people across the city.

The Super League club yesterday announced the latest part of its ‘BELONG’ campaign, which will see it run a number of initiatives to give something back to the community.

The first project saw the entire first-team squad, coaching staff and directors clean, cook and serve meals to vulnerable people at the Immanuel Project, based at St Mary’s Church in East Parade.

And, in its new initiative, the club shop will collect donations – including clothing, bedding and sleeping bags – to be distributed to a number of Bradford-based charities.

Chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul said: “The festive season is the perfect time for people to come together and support one another.

“We as a club are delighted to be helping a number of Bradford-based organisations, which work tirelessly to support those who are less fortunate than us.

“This appeal is a continuation of our bid to re-engage with the community and give something back.

“I urge our supporters and the Bradford public in general to support members of our community who are really struggling at the moment.

“I have personally already handed over a number of items of clothing and I hope to see our supporters bringing whatever they can to the stadium over the coming weeks.

“Anything from an old sleeping bag, to a duvet, to a pair of socks – providing they are clean – would be welcomed by the charities and projects who are operating in conjunction with us as part of our appeal.”

The club is working in conjunction with charities across the district, including the Immauel Project and the Welcome Project, based in St Mary’s Church, Streetwise at The Life Church, Hope Housing, Horton Housing, DISC and The Brothers.

Janet Bannister, founder of the Immanuel Project, said: “Everyone is very thrilled that the Bradford Bulls and their fabulous fans have decided to support our charity.

“The donations are much appreciated, particularly at this cold and emotional time of the year. Many thanks for the kindness and for everyone’s help.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Bradford Bulls shop from now until December 19.
