The head of safeguarding children in Bradford has sent a detailed response to a Government Minister, who had expressed “deep concern” about a serious case review into the death of four-year-old Hamzah Khan.

Edward Timpson, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families, demanded swift answers to a series of ten key questions about the handling of the case.

Hamzah was starved to death by his alcoholic mother, Amanda Hutton, in December 2009 at the then family home in Heaton, Bradford, despite 14 agencies and organisations having contact with the Bradford family.

Hutton was last month jailed for 15 years for his manslaughter.

Professor Nick Frost, chairman of the Bradford Safeguarding Children Board, said he had sent Mr Timpson a full report written by officers, with a covering letter from himself. Prof Frost said: “I believe it answers all the questions. It is a ten-page document and very detailed.”
