A solitary bunch of flowers tonight lay at a memorial for Bradford police officer PC Sharon Beshenivsky, on the anniversary of her death.
The 38-year-old officer, of Hainworth, near Keighley, was shot dead eight years ago today outside the Universal Express travel agency in Morley Street, Bradford, as she attended a bungled armed robbery.
PC Beshenivsky and her colleague, PC Teresa Milburn, responded to a call to the robbery. As they arrived three men burst out of the travel agency and both officers were shot, killing PC Beshenivsky and serious-ly wounding PC Milburn.
Three men were jailed for a total of more than 100 years for the murder.
One man is still being sought in connection with PC Beshenivsky’s murder. Police believe that the wanted man, 50-yearold Piran Ditta Khan, may be in Pakistan.
A card with the flowers at PC Beshenivsky’s memorial stone in Norfolk Gardens tonight read: “Remembered always Sharon RIP. Till we meet again. All our love, Joanne and Angie.”
