The Reverend Paul Flowers was one of the most senior figures at Bradford Council as recently as two-and-a-half years ago.

Mr Flowers, who represented Great Horton for Labour, was a member of its decision-making executive from May 2010 to August 2011.

His most recent role had seen him take responsibility for housing and planning, the post now occupied by Councillor Val Slater.

Mr Flowers resigned from the Council in September 2011, citing personal reasons associated with his family responsibilities, as well as the time pressures involved with his role within the Co-operative Banking Group.

At the time, the then leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Greenwood, paid tribute to Mr Flowers’ work and called him “a highly gifted individual who has made an enormous contribution as a member of the Executive”.

Mr Flowers served on the Council for almost ten years, from 2002 to 2011.
