A pedestrian fighting for his life in hospital after being in collision with a car in Bradford has undergone extensive surgery, say police.
A police spokesman said that the man, aged in his 30s, was still in a critical but stable condition today.
He was crossing Wakefield Road during a heavy downpour on Friday evening when he was involved in a collision with a black Mercedes E280. The car, which stopped at the scene, was travelling away from Bradford city centre at the time.
Police said the driver was not arrested as a result of the collision, which happened at traffic lights at Wakefield Road’s junction with Lorne Street, at 6.17pm.
The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with multiple injuries, including to his head and back.
Wakefield Road was closed between its junctions with Neville Road and Sticker Lane roundabouts.
It re-opened at about 10pm. Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to ring the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
