New communities arriving in Bradford pose challenges for teachers tasked with educating their children, the report reveals.

It said while ethnic diversity was “one of Bradford’s biggest assets”, schools were constantly having to adapt.

It said: “It was pointed out that there are a range of different communities in Bradford and they constantly change, with children from different backgrounds coming into schools.

“As soon as schools begin to understand the issues, a new group from other communities arrive, bringing different issues.”

It also suggested arranging English language lessons for parents who spoke other languages, while saying the bilingual skills of children should be celebrated and encouraged.

It added: “Many children, regardless of ethnicity, come to school with very poor language and cognitive understanding.”
