Friends and team-mates honoured a murdered student when the University of Bradford's two rugby clubs played for a trophy in his memory last night.

The Tony Ho Memorial Cup saw about 200 people gather at Bradford Salem Rugby Club to watch the university's rugby league and rugby union sides tackle each other in their annual cross-codes match.

Mr Ho, 19, played for both clubs while studying chemistry and forensic science at the university. He was murdered in January 2010 during a robbery at his student digs in Great Horton.

Sam Butterworth, sports and societies officer at the university, said: “Tony played for both clubs and he was a big player for both.”
