A 26-year-old Bradford man has received a six-month ban for driving without insurance in Cross Hills, near Keighley.
Skipton magistrates heard yesterday that Saeed Akhtar was stopped by police on April 15 on Skipton Road after his was highlighted as uninsured. He initially told the officer that he was a named driver for the Peugeot 307, the insurance company confirmed the policy had been cancelled in January.
Akhtar, of Undercliffe Lane, Bradford, who was found guilty in his absence at an earlier hearing, already had seven points on his licence. Magistrates imposed a further six points, taking him over the maximum 12 and giving him a six month ban.
He was also fined £290 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and victims surcharge of £29.
