Teachers, pupils and parents at a Skipton primary school have won a national gardening competition.

Parish Church School in Brougham Street edged ahead of hundreds of other schools to win the Harrod Horticultural Garden Plot Grower competition.

The school sent in pictures and a diary of the efforts to create the garden at the end of the school year, and learned last week it had been triumphant.

Head teacher Ellen Woodthorpe said all classes worked hard to create the garden and win £400 of vouchers.

“Well done to all of the children, staff and parents who took a very active part in helping to develop our school garden,” she said.
