More than 100 of Otley’s residential roads are set to get a 20mph limit in a bid to make the town safer.
Leeds City Council is preparing to lower the limit on nearly all residential and unnamed streets south of the River Wharfe – barring major objections.
The change will cover all residential roads between the river and Otley bypass/Bradford Road along with those south of Bradford Road, except for Ghyll Beck Drive, Spring Gardens, Burras Drive, Burras Avenue, Elm Terrace and Bedford Place.
The move represents the first phase in a scheme to turn Otley into a ‘20mph town’, an initiative driven by Councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) and backed with £10,000 from the town council.
