An award-winning law firm is to take on seven new members of staff at its Bradford office.

Switalskis Solicitors has nine offices in the county but intends to take on more staff in its Bradford office in Darley Street. Bradford Council’s Business Enterprise and Investment team have provided support and assistance to the firm through the Bradford City Centre Growth Scheme.

Switalskis Solicitors, the three-times winner of the Yorkshire Law Firm of the Year award, currently employs 220 staff, including 80 solicitors.

The firm works in child care law, clinical negligence, conveyancing, Court of Protection work and family law and mediation.

Bradford Council leader, Councillor David Green, said: “I’m delighted that Switalskis Solicitors intend to make their Bradford city centre office a key office with respect to the future growth of the firm.”

John Durkan, managing partner of Switalskis, said: “The Business Growth Scheme is a fantastic incentive for businesses like ours.

“The scheme offers the chance to create new jobs and grow businesses, breathing new life into the local economy.

“It has given us an exciting new opportunity to further develop our Bradford office and strengthen the firm as a whole. We very much appreciate the support and assistance the Council is providing and no doubt other local businesses taking part will too.”

The Business Growth Scheme is part of Bradford’s City Centre Growth Zone, a £35m initiative funded by Bradford Council and the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

Eligible businesses can receive business rate rebates if they demonstrate that they are creating new jobs in Bradford city centre.
