A 20-year-old man who damaged the car of his ex-girlfriend’s father, and assaulted him, has been warned to keep away from the family.

Benjamin Hardacre, of Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, Bradford, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court yesterday for criminal damage and battery on February 2.

Judge Robert Bartfield sentenced him to three months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, with 80 hours of unpaid work.

He must attend an activity focusing on how to behave in relationships and pay his victim, Michael North, £200 compensation.

The court heard that Hardacre damaged the car and hit Mr North on the hand with an object.

Judge Bartfield made a restraining order barring him from going to Mr North’s home or having contact with his family. The judge said any breach of the order was reserved to him.
