A Bradford school is celebrating being praised by the Minister of State for Schools, David Laws, for being in the top 105 schools for pupil progress.

Shirley Manor Primary School in Wyke, which has recently been awarded a Gold Science Award and is an ICT Mark Champion School, is one of 10 schools in Yorkshire to receive the Minister’s letter and the only one in Bradford.

In his letter, Mr Laws said: "It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your excellent performance in the new similar schools measure in the 2012 School Performance Tables.”

Headteacher Maureen Neill said: “We are delighted to have been congratulated by the Schools’ Minister for helping our pupils to make outstanding achievements and achieve well above expectations.”
