A Shipley-based theatre group that helps people recover from mental illness will benefit from a psychic goat, a Radio 2 comedy winner and Yorkshire soap celebrity.
Saturday’s Cabaret Saltaire – part of Saltaire Festival – at Caroline Street Social Club will be hosted by impresario Squinty McGinty, better known as Steve Huison, of Coronation Street and The Full Monty fame.
He is part of Shoestring Forum Theatre Company, which until recently received NHS funding for its work helping people with mental illnesses. “We go into psychiatric wards and work with people using drama and music,” said Mr Huison.
“Drama can help people regain confidence and social skills,” he said.
Tickets, at £15 and £12, are available from the social club, Fanny’s Alehouse and Saltaire Bookshop.
