A 23-year-old motorist left in agony after a hit-and-run incident is appealing for anyone who knows the getaway driver to contact police.

Georgia Narey, from Idle, was driving her silver Renault Clio on Victoria Road, near the White Hart Inn, Eccleshill, Bradford, at 3.50pm on Monday when a black car, believed to be a Ford Focus, drifted into her path from the other side of the road.

Miss Narey, a service manager, thinks the driver lost attention because he was texting on his phone.

She said he hit the side of her car, breaking her wheel and causing her to brake sharply, deploying her airbags. He then drove off, stopped a short distance off, looked at the scene, and drove away, she said.

She had to go to Bradford Royal Infirmary, because of aches from the crash, and was told she had muscular damage.

Her insurance company have now told her that the car, which she shared with her mum, was a probable write-off, with all the claim falling on her shoulders because the other driver had left the scene.

“He was texting on his phone and was just drifting into my side of the road” she said. “I did my best to move over as far as I could but saw him coming towards me so I tried to get out of the way.

“I just want him caught. It is inconvenient, I am off work, and if I don’t find out who did it then it is coming off my own insurance.

“If anyone has seen the other car, or anyone knows this person who has come home with a damaged car, call the police.”

Her boyfriend Darius Bradley, 25, said: “There must be quite a lot of damage to his car. He didn’t stop to check on her – what if she was a pensioner and had a heart attack? He just drove off and didn’t care.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 3:54pm on Monday. A vehicle failed to stop at the scene and inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“Any witnesses or anyone with any information as to the driver or the location of the vehicle is asked to contact the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
