An epilepsy sufferer, her brother and friend are preparing for the Bupa Great North Run in support of the charity which helps her.

Kate and Richard Jordan and Alex Armitage are fundraising for Epilepsy Action and will join 56,000 runners on the 13.1-mile run tomorrow.

Kate, of Baildon, said: “When I was diagnosed, me and my family found the information provided by Epilepsy Action to be hugely reassuring and helpful. We therefore want to do something to raise money for the charity. We definitely wouldn’t spend our free time running without such a good cause to motivate us.”

In December, the women, both 23, ran the 5k Reindeer Stampede in Roberts Park, Saltaire, which they will do again this year. They also did the Bradford 10k and hope to raise £1,000.

Richard, 27, of Saltaire, said: “Epilepsy can be a very frightening condition for everyone involved, and there are many people who have been helped and continue to be helped by Epilepsy Action. They fund research, campaign on issues affecting those with epilepsy and run a Freephone helpline to name just a few of their areas of action.”
