Bradford grunge three-piece Monster Jaw suffered a blow when their infamous psychedelic ‘Blue Skull’ tour bus broke down and practically blew up on route to indie rock venue The Rigger.
When fans heard of the disaster they began donating money to the band to get them back on the road.
Bradford rockers New Model Army stepped in, donating prizes for a raffle, and within 72 hours fans from around the world had donated £1,300, allowing Monster Jaw to buy a new van.
“This outpouring of support for an unsigned band shows both the amazing power of social networking and fans’ astonishing generosity towards bands they love,” says Bradford writer and performance poet Joolz Denby, a friend of Monster Jaw.
The three-piece’s single Get A Tattoo has had more than 800 plays on YouTube and has been played on UK, German and American radio.
Monster Jaw play Vampire, Bradford, tomorrow. Also appearing are Blackballed, the side project of Marshall Gill of New Model Army.
