Bradford East MP David Ward hopes the depth of feeling expressed by the district’s disability groups to stop proposed care cuts to thousands of vulnerable people will be acted on by Council bosses.

Bradford Council leader David Green and Councillor Amir Hussain, the executive member for adult services, have been presented with a 900-name petition organised by the Bradford Cares campaign led by Lib Dem MP Mr Ward (pictured), at a meeting to discuss the Council’s proposed changes to the Fair Access to Care Services Criteria.

Mr Ward said: “I hope that our large local petition in addition to all the people that attended the event demonstrates the depth of feeling and anger against the Council’s cuts.

“I just hope the Council listens to the real concerns of local people.”

Representatives of Bradford and District Disabled People’s Forum will be raising the matter at a meeting with Care Services Minister Norman Lamb on Monday, September 30, and at the Council’s executive on Tuesday, October 1.
