Shopkeeper Kieran Basra, who runs Bierley Post Office, has raised a fantastic £1.27 million for National Lottery good causes through sales of lottery products to local players.
Great Britain’s most successful ever Olympian and National Lottery Ambassador, Sir Chris Hoy, said: “It’s great that retailers across the country are doing such a fantastic job in contributing to the funds raised for the Good Causes.
“National Lottery funding is absolutely vital to a massive variety of projects. I know from my own experience the difference it’s made to sport in this country and that this funding touches communities across the nation.”
Mr Basra added: “I’m so proud that my customers have helped me to raise so much money for National Lottery Good Causes. I couldn’t believe the figure when my Camelot representative told me.
“It’s great news for our local area, as well as for communities across the UK – and I’ll definitely be talking to all of my customers about it.”
