Two sand artists aiming to make 9,000 sand drawings on the D-Day landing beaches in France are seeking volunteers to help.
The series of sand drawings will be created on Peace Day, on Saturday, September 21 to represent those who lost their lives there during the Second World War.
Jamie Wardley and Andy Moss, from Bradford-based company Sand In Your Eye, are behind the project, called The Fallen.
They plan to create stencilled drawings in the sand of the 9,000 Allies, civilians and German forces who died at Arromanches on June 6, 1944.
“The Fallen will bring together people from all nationalities, backgrounds and ages,” said Mr Moss.
“Each individual will work in a team to make a person using a stencil then raking the sand. Anyone can participate, whether they’re veterans or families with children.”
A coach, leaving on September 19 and returning on September 22, will transport volunteers.
