A woman who was trapped when a vehicle hit her car as she was unloading shopping at a supermarket has died.

Tracey Askham was at Morrisons in Idle on Wednesday, August 21, when the accident happened.

A Suzuki Vitara hit her MINI Cooper and trapped her at the back of it, injuring her.

Police say Mrs Askham, 47, of Bradford,may also have suffered a heart attack at the scene as well as head and leg injuries.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and a spokesman confirmed she died on Wednesday night.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact PC Lee Armstrong at the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.

Mrs Askham’s daughter, Chantelle Aleksander, last night said: “All we would like to say is thank you to all the people that helped her – the emergency services, the ICU staff at LGI.

“She was just absolutely amazing.

“She gave what she could to help people.”
