The parent company of the Telegraph & Argus has seen its biggest increase in online readership, new figures show.

Newsquest has released its January to June 2013 ABC website audit which reports that a daily average of 643,836 unique browsers accessed its network of 144 local media brand sites.

That figure represents record year-on-year growth of 28.9 per cent (January to June 2012: 499,292).

The average number of monthly unique browsers accessing the company’s network of local websites, which include telegraph andargus.co.uk, during the period increased to 10,877,028 – year-on-year growth of 24.6 per cent (January to June 2012: 8,732,910).

Roger Green, managing director of Digital Media for Newsquest, said: “This is the 15th successive audited growth figure for Newsquest and our biggest-ever increase in daily growth since we first published an ABC audit in May 2005.

“In June our network of local media brand websites attracted more than 2.3 million additional monthly unique browsers. More than 96 per cent of these were accessing on smartphone and tablet devices.”

The Telegraph & Argus website, telegraphandargus.co.uk, reported a daily average of 31,157 unique website browsers, which represents a year-on-year increase of 22.3 per cent.
