A man airlifted to hospital with chest injuries after a two-car smash in Bingley is in a “critical but stable” condition.
Police closed off Ferncliffe Road after the lunchtime collision on Wednesday between a Land Rover Discovery and Citroen Saxo. Traffic came to a standstill at all four access points on to the road which passes over the A650 Bingley bypass.
An air ambulance took the most seriously hurt, a passenger in the Saxo, to Leeds General Infirmary, while another man was taken by road to Airedale Hospital. His injuries are not known. Debris, including one of the front wheels of the Saxo, was strewn across the road.
The road stayed shut until just before 5pm with traffic congestion starting to ease in time for the evening rush hour.
