A man was airlifted to hospital with serious chest injuries after a two-car smash in Bingley.
Police closed off Ferncliffe Road after the lunchtime collision between a Discovery and Citroen Saxo yesterday.
Traffic came to a standstill at all four access points onto the road which passes over the A650 Bingley bypass.
An air ambulance took the most seriously hurt of the drivers to Leeds General Infirmary while the other driver was taken by road to Airedale Hospital. His injuries are not known.
Debris including one of the front wheels of the Saxo which was strewn across the road.
The road stayed shut until just before 5pm with traffic congestion starting to ease in time for the evening rush hour.
