Four ponies caused chaos in Bradford as they weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic.
Police were called at 7.05am on Tuesday to reports of the animals running along Dick Lane.
They then ran in and out of traffic on Thornbury Road, near Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College, before continuing on to Leeds Road towards the city centre, said a police spokesman.
Officers managed to contain the ponies by 8.15am in the entrance to a disused factory site on Dick Lane. The police spokesman said the animals made their way into a nearby field of their own accord by 9.20am.
