Two police force staff and a member of the public have been praised for their quick-thinking after a man suffered an epileptic fit.

PCSO Nikki Smith and Organisational Support Officer Robin Barker, of North Yorkshire Police, were on duty in Grassington when the man, from Skipton and aged in his 60s, had a seizure in the square.

PCSO Smith and Mr Barker put him into the recovery position, monitored his breathing, ensured his airways remained clear and stayed with him for about 20 minutes until an ambulance arrived.

Local man Adam Drury also played his part, grabbing a cushion for the man’s head and making sure onlookers didn’t get too close.
