A shoplifter who got away with 123 cans of deodorant has been banned from all branches of Asda and the Co-op for three months.
Alan Rastall, 39, of Hirst Lodge Court, Wrose, Bradford, was one of a three-man gang that raided supermarkets, Bradford and Keighley Magistrates heard.
Rastall admitted three offences of stealing from the Co-op, in Wrose Road, Wrose, and from Asda, in New Line, Greengates, between June 26 and July 10.
He also asked for four similar offences to be taken into consideration. One trip netted 123 cans of deodorant and 28 jars of coffee, worth £352, and another expedition, £485 of food and toiletries.
The court heard that Rastall and his associates stuffed stolen goods into a rucksack and into clothing.
They were caught stealing coffee from the Co-op in Wrose and spotted on CCTV from Asda.
Phillipa Murray, Rastall’s solicitor, said he joined a team of shoplifters for a few days. He was a self-employed roofer and the father of two children.
He was very keen to work and had put a drug problem behind him.
Rastall was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with a ten week curfew, and a £200 compensation order.
